Chinese Yuan Edges Down Against U.S Dollar

(MENAFN) The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi — commonly known as the yuan — weakened by 18 pips to 6.9025 against the U.S. dollar on Friday, according to official data released by the China Foreign Exchange Trade System.

Under the framework governing China's tightly managed currency regime, the yuan is permitted to fluctuate no more than 2 percent above or below the daily central parity rate within the country's spot foreign exchange market during each trading session.

The central parity rate itself is determined through a weighted average of prices submitted by designated market makers prior to the opening of the interbank market at the start of every business day, ensuring a structured and transparent mechanism for daily rate-setting.
