Xi Jinping Celebrates China-Algeria Collaboration on Satellite Launch

(MENAFN) Chinese President Xi Jinping praised the collaboration between China and Algeria on Saturday following the successful launch of an Algerian remote sensing satellite from Jiuquan in northwest China, according to reports.

Xi exchanged congratulations with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune after the AlSat-3B satellite was placed into orbit from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center aboard a Long March-2C rocket.

Xi described the remote sensing satellite project as a continuation of successful aerospace cooperation between the two nations, following the earlier launch of an Algerian communications satellite. He called the project “an important manifestation of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Algeria” and emphasized his commitment to deepening bilateral ties with Tebboune.

The rocket lifted off at 12:01 p.m. local time (0401 GMT), deploying the satellite into its planned orbit.

Developed by the China Academy of Space Technology under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), the satellite will support applications in land planning, disaster prevention, and mitigation.

The launch is part of Algeria’s remote sensing satellite system program, a joint initiative between the China Great Wall Industry Corporation, a CASC subsidiary, and the Algerian Space Agency.
